Obama lies and it might be your Grandma that dies

August 16, 2009

58102185Obama brought his Grandmother into the end of life discussion of  “death panels.” The Brownshirt Democrats have erupted in a cacophony of denials about this touchy issue. “Methinks the lady doth protest too much.” At the heart of this debate is the question of who will make the difficult decisions to pull the plug on granny. At present this difficult decision is made by personal legal wills and family members. The concern is that this decision will become the providence of a new government run “death panel” whose only criteria will be cost savings. The “end of life counseling” indicates a “stealth” movement to this goal in this bill. The Senate has recently dropped the provision because of the political fallout of this issue. Other than flat out denials the Democrats have failed to be honest with us about this touchy issue.

It is a very difficult decision now when families have to make it. They have to balance personal feelings with financial costs and the will of the family member. The idea the decision will just disappear in a government run health care system is absurd. The question of who will make this decision and what will be the criteria is at the core of the current controversy.

The following excerpt is from Newsmax:

President Barack Obama on Saturday invoked his own anguish over the death of a loved one as he challenged the debunked notion that Democratic efforts to overhaul the nation’s health care would include “death panels.”

“I just lost my grandmother last year. I know what it’s like to watch somebody you love, who’s aging, deteriorate and have to struggle with that,” an impassioned Obama told a crowd in Grand Junction, Colo., as he spoke of Madelyn Payne Dunham. He took issue with “the notion that somehow I ran for public office or members of Congress are in this so they can go around pulling the plug on grandma.”

First of all the charge of “death panels” has only been debunked in the Obama loving media that acts as his personal cheerleading section. Now this may sound real touchy-feely on the surface but lets take a closer look at the issue. Here’s another statement as reported by Bloomberg made by Obama this spring on his grandmothers death. She died from cancer two days before the election last Nov 4th. The statement is about the cost and practicality of her hip replacement surgery.

President Barack Obama said his grandmother’s hip-replacement surgery during the final weeks of her life made him wonder whether expensive procedures for the terminally ill reflect a “sustainable model” for health care.

So even he admits that his own personal situation with his grandmother “made him wonder whether expensive procedures for the terminally ill reflect a ‘sustainable model’ for health care.” It is a serious moral and ethical issue. It is a real issue that challenges many families today. You can extrapolate from his statement that a government run system would be “unsustainable” if it provided care to every senior that needed it. He admits that it is a cost effectiveness issue. If it provided care to everyone that needed care it would cost to much and go bankrupt. It is a cost issue. It is quite a different statement from the one he made at the Townhall propaganda event where he is trying to “sell” his health program to an increasingly doubtful public. He attempts to use empathy to to reach out and deceive us about his real concern and intention which he clearly stated last April.

With his grandmothers death it was a personal decision. He did not try to stop her from getting the operation but he infers that under a public system somebody would have to make that decision. A government “death panel.” Now you can call this a “cost effectiveness panel” if you want but the effect is the same. This is what is so disturbing to both seniors and family members.

Equally conerning to us is that doctors in his administration have made very troubling statements on the issue of cost effectiveness concerning seniors. For the Democrats to deny this is an issue is a bald faced lie. Does Obama agree with them? He hasn’t fired them because he disagrees with them.

From Dr. Ezekiel Emanuel, the brother of White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel.

He has already been appointed to two key positions: health-policy adviser at the Office of Management and Budget and a member of Federal Council on Comparative Effectiveness Research…. Savings, he writes, will require changing how doctors think about their patients: Doctors take the Hippocratic Oath too seriously, “as an imperative to do everything for the patient regardless of the cost or effects on others” (Journal of the American Medical Association, June 18, 2008)…..

And here is another troubling statement from Dr. David Blumenthal, another key Obama adviser.

He recommends slowing medical innovation to control health spending. Blumenthal has long advocated government health-spending controls, though he concedes they’re “associated with longer waits” and “reduced availability of new and expensive treatments and devices” (New England Journal of Medicine, March 8, 2001). But he calls it “debatable” whether the timely care Americans get is worth the cost. (Ask a cancer patient, and you’ll get a different answer. Delay lowers your chances of survival.)

This statement from the president’s budget director, Peter Orszag is perhaps the most ominous indicating they want a new, presidentially-appointed bureaucracy or a “death panel.”

Knowing how unpopular the cuts will be, the president’s budget director, Peter Orszag, urged Congress this week to delegate its own authority over Medicare to a new, presidentially-appointed bureaucracy that wouldn’t be accountable to the public.

You can play all the word games you want but for the Democrats to deny that this is a real issue is indicative of just how dishonest that really are and it proves that they will tell any lie to get this bill passed. This is exactly why this bill should be rejected by America. It is being proposed by pathological liars that have continued to prove just how irresponsible they really are. That is our government at work.

Obama lies and it might your Grandma that dies as a result of it………
